What this relationship builds on
Both share an orientation toward Gain, Pressure, and Justification, habitually using publicly defensible conditions to obtain resources. The difference between Instrumental and Punitive harm appears after the objective is met: the Harvester tends to stop, while the Collector may keep making those who offended pay.
How they see each other
The Harvester admires the other's procedural rigor, but fears retaliation will consume the profit already secured.
The Collector thinks the other recognizes only the amount received and provides no further consequences for those who disrupted the order.
An alliance
They take over a bad debt together: the Harvester resets the payment terms, while the Collector uses formal procedure to recover the shortfall.
A rivalry
After the debt is paid, the Collector still wants to revoke the debtor's eligibility. The Harvester sees this as escalation with no additional Gain.
A close bond
Beside the case-closing stamp, the Collector leaves one box open, while the Harvester crosses out every hidden fee. Once they confirm no balance remains, they go for a late-night meal that counts as no one's reward.
A turning point
An old account shows that the original rule was unfair, producing their first fundamental disagreement over whom they should pursue.
De-escalation & boundaries
Confirm together that the principal has been repaid, then withdraw the additional sanction and hidden deductions before a witness.
