What this relationship builds on
Both seek Gain, punish resistance, and disregard respectable appearances. Pursuer narrows the target's options through sustained pursuit; Bruiser makes direct demands and publicly raises the stakes. Their similar aims let them ally quickly, but conflict can escalate over who leads the pursuit and who has the right to stop it.
How they see each other
Pursuer may think Bruiser smashed things too soon, cutting off both later leads and hidden Gain.
Bruiser may believe Pursuer can track but never dares to bring matters to a close, so Bruiser must personally make sure that those who refuse remember the cost.
An alliance
As an opponent keeps changing locations, Pursuer pins down the route while Bruiser guards the exit and applies direct Pressure, forcing the resources to be surrendered.
A rivalry
Even after securing the money bag, Bruiser destroys the medium carrying the clues. Pursuer sees this as contempt for the pursuit and begins digging into Bruiser's past.
A close bond
After returning the repaired stall frame, Pursuer puts away the pursuit list and Bruiser offers Pursuer a coat. They wait side by side for the last bus, and neither asks who admitted defeat first.
A turning point
The trapped person offers a larger lead valuable to them both. Further punishment would lose it forever, forcing them to reorder their priorities.
De-escalation & boundaries
Preserve the evidence and a route out, stop the public humiliation, and decide again after the resources are returned whether to pursue responsibility through lawful channels.
