In everyday life, these tendencies care who makes the final decision, act directly, and tolerate disapproval.
In shadow mode, a decision may become personal will replacing discussion, with results treated as the sole source of legitimacy. Leadership, quick decisions, and trust in one's judgment are not in themselves autocracy.
Quickly resolving disagreement and taking final responsibility can help a team break a deadlock, provided the basis for the decision can be checked, dissent can be voiced safely, and mistakes can be corrected.
When ‘someone has to decide’ quietly becomes ‘only I can decide,’ and feedback becomes decoration after execution, taking responsibility has crossed into autocracy.
Like the Enforcer, the Decider takes direct control of the direction, but relies less on institutions or respectable explanations. Like the Tyrant, the Decider demands obedience; the Decider focuses on making a decision stick, while the Tyrant keeps punishing challengers after they lose.
