Strengths from the same roots
Quickly spotting opportunities and alternative paths can help limit losses and save resources as conditions change, provided the shortcut does not secretly shift costs onto uninformed people.
One step too far
When the standard shifts from ‘Is this fair, and will I accept the consequences?’ to ‘Can anyone stop me?’ adaptability slides into opportunism.
How nearby characters differ
Like the Broker, the Opportunist pursues tangible gain and finds useful routes, but invests less in a respectable cover story. Like the Pursuer, the Opportunist relies little on approval; unlike the Pursuer, the Opportunist tends to leave once the gain is secured instead of continuing to punish whoever stood in the way.
